Cambria was incorporated in March 2006 with the objective of creating an independent UK motor dealership group representing both the volume, premium and luxury segments of the motor vehicle market through a "buy and build" strategy.

At the heart of the company is Cambria Automobiles, a prominent multigroup automotive retailer renowned for its specialisation in the world's most prestigious and iconic car brands. This automotive expertise is complemented by SOGO, a subsidiary that offers a sustainable and flexible mobility fleet for cars and commercial vehicles. What sets SOGO apart is its commitment to sustainability, offering carbon offsetting and net-zero credentials to eco-conscious consumers and fleet operators.

RAMP, another subsidiary of Cambria Investments Holdings, plays a vital role in the automotive industry by providing top-notch repair and maintenance products and services. With a strong reputation for quality, RAMP contributes to the overall excellence of the group's automotive offerings.

Beyond the automotive sector, Cambria Property Investments adds a layer of diversification to the company's portfolio. Cambria Property Investments Ltd not only manages the Cambria Automobiles property portfolio, but also is tasked with identifying, purchasing and developing further property assets for the benefit of the overall group.

Over the past 18 years Cambria Automobiles has identified and acquired a number of underperforming motor dealership businesses where it felt that its four pillar culture, defined acquisition strategy and operational process improvement would result in increased revenue and profitability by those dealerships which would subsequently produce increased returns for the Group.

The following timeline sets out the Group's development:

February 2006

Cambria Property Investments Ltd was founded. 

July 2006

Acquired Cambria Automobiles Limited and Sudbury (Swindon) Limited.

August 2007

Acquired Thoranmart Limited.

December 2007

Acquired Summit Investments Motors (UK) Limited which has subsequently been renamed Cambria Automobiles (South East) Limited.

January 2008

Acquired the trade and assets of 4 franchises from the Administrative Receiver of Caledonia Motor Group;
Nissan, Volvo and Lotus franchises have been added to existing dealerships within Thoranmart.

October 2009

Acquired the trade and assets of 4 motor vehicle dealership sites from the Administrator of Autohaus Limited adding the Triumph and Mazda brands to the Group.

December 2009

Acquired the trade and assets of one dealership from the Administrator of Lythgoe Limited, with both Fiat and Mazda brands.

February 2010

Acquired D&F Trading Limited from Drake and Fletcher Limited which incorporated 2 Honda and 2 Mazda dealerships.

March 2011

Addition of Alfa Romeo and Renault franchises onto Blackburn Motor Park.

September 2011

Acquired the trade and assets of Doves Vauxhall in Southampton.

January 2013

Acquired the trade and assets of County Motor Works, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo and Chrysler Jeep in Chelmsford.

July 2014

Acquired the trade and assets of Hadley Green Motors Jaguar and Land Rover in Barnet, Hertfordshire.
Won the prestigious Franchised Dealer Group of the Year Award at the annual Motor Trader Awards held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London.

May 2015

Cambria completed the acquisition of the trade and assets of the Land Rover franchise in Royal Wootton Basset, Swindon from TH White Limited.

January 2016

Cambria completed the acquisition of the Land Rover franchise in Welwyn Garden City from the Jardine Motors Group.

May 2016

Cambria opened its new Aston Martin Birmingham business.

July 2016

Cambria Automobiles acquired the trade and assets of Jaguar and Land Rover Woodford in South Woodford, North London from Pendragon Premier Limited, a subsidiary of Pendragon.

August 2017

Cambria Automobiles launches Repair and Maintanance Plans Ltd (RAMP) providing products and services to the industry. 

November 2017

Cambria Automobiles agreed on a partnership with luxury brand McLaren to open a dealership in Hatfield in January 2018.

December 2017

Cambria Automobiles agreed on a partnership with Bentley to open our Bentley Chelmsford dealership in Essex and Bentley Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

May 2018

Cambria Automobiles agreed on a new partnership to open our Lamborghini Chelmsford dealership in Essex.

August 2018

Cambria Automobiles opens its second Lamborghini dealership - Lamborghini Tunbridge Wells.

December 2018

Cambria Automobiles opened its new 'Arch Concept' Grange Land Rover Hatfield and Grange Jaguar Hatfield dealership replacing Land Rover Welwyn and Jaguar Welwyn respectively with a new state-of-the-art facility.

April 2019

Cambria Automobiles opened a new state-of-the-art luxury retail dealership for the Aston Martin marque. Aston Martin Hatfield replaced the Aston Martin Welwyn facility.

May 2019

We opened a new state-of-the-art luxury sports dealership for McLaren. Grange McLaren Hatfield opened, replacing our temporary facilities that had been operating on-site for over a year.

January 2020

Cambria Automobiles acquired the trading assets of the Leven Car Company in Scotland to open our first-ever Rolls-Royce Motor Cars dealership and our fourth Aston Martin location. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Edinburgh and Grange Aston Martin Edinburgh were opened and are welcoming new and existing guests.

February 2020

We welcomed back Alfa Romeo and Jeep at Preston Motor Park, who where then joined by Abarth and Fiat. With the four vehicle franchises now available at Preston, we are an 'Official FCA Brand Centre' and stand ready to welcome guests from all over the North West of England.

December 2020

Launched SOGO Mobility Limited with a view to transforming the way people and businesses fulfil their vehicle needs.

October 2021

Delisted from the London Stock Exchange. Cambria Investments Holdings Ltd is now a privately owned company again.

December 2022

INEOS Grenadier is welcomed to the group with a site in Birmingham covering the Midlands and Edinburgh covering Scotland. 

July 2023

Our first MG location is welcomed to the group in Croydon

September 2023

Motorparks is relaunched with a sustainable used car supermarket proposition covering 8 locations.
